TELEVISION

Tara McNamara burst into national recognition as the personality on CMT's video blocks, Specials, and CMT News Specials during her two years as a network host and VJ. With a decade of broadcast journalism under her belt, she sprung into action at CMT, becoming the voice of CMT News, co-hosting the red carpet pre-shows and after party for CMT's Flameworthy Awards, and forging the way as the primary talent when the network launched the CMT Radio Network. Tara's favorite place to be is backstage at the Grand Ole Opry ("a magical atmosphere") and hosting Grand Ole Opry Live was always a special treat, interviewing greats like Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, Ralph Stanley, Travis Tritt, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (see complete list of interviews below).
Tara knows how to speak to an audience as the victories marking Tara's time at CMT reflect. On her series, Big Ticket, Tara brought in the highest ratings for the network at that point with her bluegrass episode. While hosting that series, Tara received 300-500 positive and encouraging emails each week. Ratings spiked again when she filled in for the regular host of CMT's flagship series, Most Wanted Live, achieving the highest numbers for the series at the time (Trick Pony episode). Besides the rewards of Nielsen, the audience spoke up for Tara when they voted her "The Sexiest Woman in Country Music" in an internet poll in 2002, giving her 39.5% of the vote out of 42,000 respondents over Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Heidi Newfield, and Sara Evans.
Tara initiated her country music career on the syndicated video series, Planet Country, but she's covered all kinds of subject matter in the following TV series:
20something (style, youth culture) Co-hostsyndicated
Happy Holidays (parenting, home) Co-hostsyndicated
.com, (internet, technology) Correspondentaired on CNBC
Women in Charge (business) Correspondentaired on Oxygen
Market Trends (investments) Correspondentsyndicated
Better Parenting (parenting) Correspondentsyndicated
Interiors & Exteriors (home design) Correspondentsyndicated
Since moving to LA, Tara was the original host of G Living Live about how to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle and was the host of the long-running syndicated fashion program, Main Floor.
